IT Convergence was once again a key exhibitor at Oracle OpenWorld, the technology industry’s most important event of the year. OpenWorld 2008 provided everyone a renewed opportunity to network with Oracle, its partners, technology experts, and the end-user community
IT Convergence programmed a series of live demos centered around the theme of “Rev Up for R12 and other cutting edge technology solutions.” Leading demo topics included “Straight Talk on Oracle R12,” “Taking Our Own Medicine: ITC’s Internal Upgrade to R12,” “Who Are You? An Intro to Oracle Identity Management,” and “Oracle E-Business Suite/Portal Integrations Made Easy.”
The objective behind this live demo series is two-fold. First to give organizations contemplating an upgrade to R12 a chance to talk with veterans of R12 projects. While R12 is gaining traction in the market place, only a few organizations have identified the ins and outs that lie behind successful upgrades to R12. These live demos gave OpenWorld attendees a chance to talk with experts who’ve overcome the challenges of an R12 implementation. The second goal of the series was to give people hands-on exposure to solutions involving OBIEE, Oracle Portal, SOA, and Identity Management solutions.
In addition to this live demo series, IT Convergence Managing Principal Consultant Ben Prusinski delivered a featured session on "Undocumented Oracle DBA Utitlites: Black Magic for the Oracle Expert." on Monday September 22nd. This session provided tips and tricks to resolve the most difficult Oracle Database problems. It covered topics such as hang analysis and performance tuning for undocumented or little-known tools in Oracle Database, including oradebug, dbx, SQL Trace, and internal X$ tables.
Because OpenWorld provides a unique opportunity to witness Oracle Corporation’s most important product announcements first hand, IT Convergence provided periodic reviews of the event from our blog, so everyone could follow the highlights and relevant information of this top conference.
