After presenting So Many Choices: Which Business Intelligence Tool is Right for You
with Barry Markovic on Monday, I have attended many Collaborate 08 sessions. Most of them were very interesting and well presented. You can really learn a lot at the conferences.
I noticed a tremendous interest in Oracle’s UPK. Nearly everyone of our existing clients that I have spoken to this week at the conference has an interest in UPK. In addition they are either using Tutor or also considering using Tutor with UPK to as their documentation solution. Most people have had a preconception that Tutor was being replaced by UPK. That is not the case. Nor is it true that the two products will be integrated to one product in the future (verified by Oracle this morning).
Both products are excellent, distinct tools. Tutor creates business process and procedure documents with the ability for tracking SOX compliant requirements, while producing beautiful flowcharts. UPK creates CBTs with the ability to output many documents types in multiple formats. The CBTs can be played back in any of the four modes provided; See It, Try It, Know It, and Do It. Each product has much more robust capabilities, I have just simplied it here for sake of the blog. Using the two products together can give users a very empowering, learning experience!
