I am really looking forward to presenting at my first Collaborate conference. The title of my presentation is “Mission Possible: Upgrade to Financials, HRMS, CRM, and Project R12 on 3 Continents in 6 Months.”
This presentation talks about IT Convergence’s internal upgrade to Oracle R12, which took place during 2008 and went live in early 2009. Considering that this upgrade entailed offices in the US, Asia, and Latin America, and included Oracle Financials, Oracle HRMS, Oracle Project, and Oracle CRM, you should think about attending, as you’ll get a lot of clues on how to plan your road map.
First, I’ll go into our decision to upgrade to R12. That may seem trivial, but in reality you’ve got to have a clear understanding of why you’re upgrading if you want to succeed. In fact, the motives behind our upgrade led directly to the way we structured the upgrade, how we planned to implement (or not implement) R12’s new features and functions.
This was a big project, and we successfully managed risk. But how? Well, I won’t provide all of the answers here, but I can tell you that this upgrade forced us to honestly evaluate the capacity of our internal staff. For example, R12 wasn’t ready to support tax processes in Argentina, and we knew we couldn’t resolve this on our own. So, we started working with Oracle support on this right away….
There are a lot of details behind this, which you’ll see in the presentation. You’ll also get a chance to see first-hand how executive support and sponsorship was critical to our success.
So if you’re planning on going to Orlando for Collaborate 09, and you’ve got to plan to attend my session “Mission Possible: Upgrade to Financials, HRMS, CRM, and Project R12 on 3 Continents in 6 Months,” OAUG Session ID 1694. to be held in room W204C, at 09:45am.
Likewise, you can stop by booth #4151 to meet me in person. I’d be happy to give you advice about upgrading to Oracle R12 or perhaps tell you a little bit about how you can use R12 to improve decision making by building Executive Dashboards interfaced with Noetix and Oracle Portal.
