Countdown to Collaborate 09 — Confessions of a one time Oracle Telesales Skeptic
Looking forward to Collaborate 09, I am excited about my upcoming presentation “How Oracle Telesales Helped a Global User of Oracle with Their Sales Organization,” and I’d like to share why.A year ago, at Collaborate 08, IT Convergence President and founder Patrick Krause gave a presentation titled “Oracle CRM is Better than Salesforce.com…. When You Do It Right.” This presentation delved into the business and technical reasons behind our decision to choose Oracle CRM and Oracle Telesales as our Sales and Marketing solution.

If that presentation gave the view from the top down, I am going to share the perspective from the ground up.

And let me say at the outset, I started as an Oracle OTS skeptic. I was comfortable with our legacy solution PC Recruiter and, like most people in my situation, I was content to stick to the “tried and true.”

As this presentation makes clear, I am happy to say that two years of using OTS to lead a global sales force has relegated my skepticism to the distant past.

As you’d expect, you’ll hear about basic OTS functionality, including Customer and Contact Management, the Customer Relationship Manger, Opportunity Management, Quote and Order Management, Tasks and Interactions, Event Registration, Collateral Fulfillment, and Multi-currency report.

However, we won’t be talking about the functional or technical details of these functionalities, but rather, we’ll take a look at how we use these to conduct segmented, focused sales and marketing campaigns, manage our sales pipeline, and forecast revenue. You’ll also get an up close view of OTS’ utility as a territory management tool and see what it is like to track an individual lead from its initial acquisition to final booking.

You’ll also get a chance to see how we’ve interfaced OTS with other applications like Oracle Portal to build client repositories and Noetix to bill sales pipeline monitoring tools. Centralizing vital information in this way allows us to use OTS as a key component of a true CRM solution.
