“Unleashing Oracle Services: A Comprehensive Review of ‘Services’ in Oracle Databases” has just been published. This white paper traces the history of Oracle Services from 8i to its present day. As the title implies, the paper details how Oracle Technologists can deploy Services in their Oracle databases.
The first section of the paper discusses using Services in all Oracle database, and provides information on performance tuning, distributed databases, and using data guard. That paper’s second section explains how Services is used in Oracle RAC databases, examining issues related to deep platform integration, load balancing, and failover.
“Unleashing Oracle Services” is painstakingly documented, and its concepts are illustrated by numerous screen shots, flow charts, tables and SQL scripts. The white paper is available at the ITC white paper library to all who are interested in downloading it (requires registration.)
