Does Oracle SOA Suite work with Oracle 11i or only Oracle R12? What database version is required to use SOA Suite?
You can use the Cloud Adapter for SOA 12c or 11g. Regarding Oracle database versions, it supports 11g.
Does Oracle Cloud Adapter support REST based calls for SalesForce? How to handle this use case involving REST/BULK API?
The REST/BULK API is supported. This will really depend on your requirements. The SalesForce adapter allows you to call updates into whatever operation you are performing on any object. After calling that information, it can basically show you a single call to SalesForce.com. So if you’re doing bulk you can do it in one chunk.
Is there a separate license for Oracle Cloud Adapter?
Yes, it need separate license that you need to buy.
Can the Cloud Adapter integrate data from custom objects from SFDC to other out-of-the-box objects like Account, Opportunity etc.?
If you are referring to Account and Opportunity as your external objects, yes, you can use those custom objects and use data to populate them.
Is Oracle SOA required to use the Cloud Adapter? If I use my current integration tool, will it be more difficult?
There are lot many open source middleware products available in the market. You may start with just one or two integrations and it may cost more less with Open source Products. However, the moment that number begins to grow, it will be more and more difficult to provide maintenance and support from the product vendor. Based on our experience we strongly recommend to go for a tool that can provide a unified platform for integrating on-premises and cloud based applications like the Oracle SOA Suite 12c
On the Oracle EBS side, at what levels can it integrate? You showed integration with Order Management, can it integrate with other modules like Service Contracts?
Yes, all the Oracle E-Business Suite modules can be integrated using Oracle SOA Suite.
Can you provide any ROI calculations in order to make the business case at the boardroom?
We haven’t done any concrete ROI calculations because this is relatively new to ITC and we are excited about having more reliable data in our hands for our Line of Business managers to make informed decisions on. When it comes to ROI, it is really specific as to how your organization measures ROI internally, but we do go over this with clients in order to guide them as to how to present this information to fit their corporate needs. The keys to ROI are the hardware and software, the time it takes to create these services and maintain them. The flexibility the Cloud Adapter offers compared to traditional integrations is very high, and it offers a high ROI in development and maintenance.
