IT Convergence has recently released a number of resources that give Oracle DBA’s and IT Managers insight into solutions that will not only help organizations optimize their Oracle Database, but also reduce costs in the process.
As the name suggests, “High Availability Options for Oracle Database” details a series of solutions for keeping an Oracle Database available. The ITC Database Administration team wrote this white paper to preview solutions such as:
- Oracle’s Export/Import Utility,
- Data Pump, Oracle Recovery Manager,
- Data Guard,
- Advanced Replication,
- Oracle Streams,
- Failover Clusters,
- and Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters)
The paper discusses each of these in detail, exploring their advantages and disadvantages with an eye towards their respective costs and benefits. You can download “High Availability Options for Oracle Database” at our Database Administration page, simply click here and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.
The next two resources that are available are directly related to Ben Prusinski’s recent presentation at Oracle OpenWorld 2008. Over 400 people attended Ben’s session “Undocumented Oracle DBA Utilities: Black Magic for the Oracle Expert,” and the Power Point deck from that presentation is now available.
One of the topics Ben covered during his OpenWorld presentation was oradebug, and the white paper “Quick Tips for Debugging your Oracle Database with the oradebug Utility” is also available now.
