Do you have training available for the Oracle Brazil Localizations?
Yes, we offer training on Oracle’s Brazil Localization. We have some preparative training sessions that we can deliver internally for your organization; otherwise, sometimes we schedule public classes for people to join. Those include Oracle functionality and localization, and sometimes we cover partner solutions like Synchro . We have one demo database that we can use with localizations in Portuguese.
For the new features available in Oracle R12.2, aside from Online Patching, which do you think are most relevant for LATAMA?
Well, its hard to say “aside form on-line patching” because it is in fact a game-changing functionality. The general answer would be Online Patching, WebLogic, all the technical general features, because the functional changes are specific too. Mostly I think those general technology changes will cover any industry in LATAM, and we’ve also heard a lot about the user experience, the OAF, those are the ones that our customers in Latin America require.
Does ITC have experience supporting localizations for Honduras and the Dominican Republic?
In terms of localizations, specifically for Honduras and Dominican Republic, there some things depending on the industry. ITC has implemented Oracle in multiple countries in Central America, in Honduras we’ve done a couple of projects. While there isn’t a Honduras-specific localization and of itself, but we do work with clients to leverage the product. Localizations are built by partners who have the fiscal and tax experience. What we do in those countries that don’t have localizations is work through customizations.
Has ITC done or are doing any Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 upgrade projects in Latin America?
Yes, we are doing upgrades currently. We are running CRP2 in one project in Latin America that spans four countries, which will go to R12.2.3 in October. And we are starting another 12.2.3 upgrade (going from 11i) that will go live in February 2015. We’re also working with large corporations that are changing their development standards (there’s one corporation that has 200 developers), getting them ready for 12.2.
The new requests from BRL (e-social ie) tax authorities can be provided by Mastersaf?
The preparation for the data is done through Oracle EBS. For the Brazilian government, general data is not enough any more. There are several legal requirements that we should submit, detailing the transactions to the government. So that means transactions from AR, AP, Inventory, Fixed Assets and others. So all the preparation is done in Oracle, and using the capability from SubLedger Accounting we are able to have the local statutory GAAP and the global GAAP simultaneously. And yes, with the …. Oracle interface to the partner, like Mastersaf, they are able to consolidate and prepare the final legal reports, including the new legal requirements called SPD (public system for distal reporting).
Can you talk about moving from R12 to Oracle Fusion Applications and the technology changes involved?
The important thing here is that these are two different products. E-Business Suite is a product line and a firm statement from Oracle that will continue providing upgrades and new versions for EBS as a product line. Fusion is another product line, and you might have noticed that Oracle has changed its name to “cloud”, as in ERP Cloud, HCM Cloud. Event thought there are going to be a lot of integrations; the path from EBS to Fusion is through the coexistence model – which means you can plug modules from Fusion Applications into your E-Business Suite. There’s no migration path from EBS to Fusion, no upgrades or updates – it’s considered a reimplementation. Of course there’s an easy path, called Accelerator, which can convert some setups from EBS to Fusion Apps in a fast way. ITC has started working with that, and we’re currently pursuing an Oracle certification.
In terms of technology, even though you have WebLogic, the technology from Fusion Applications is completely different form EBS. In EBS Oracle Applications Framework is used for the Java or HTML pages, while Fusion Apps is completely built with Application Development Framework (ADF). So it’s a different technology – there’s a path, but it is reimplementation.
