UPK can record any web-based applications and even conceptual topics like leveraging old power-point training materials or explaining a plastic manufacturing process, but if the intention is using the UPK developer tool in a mobile device, Oracle has not yet created a mobile version for this, unfortunately.

What is the main difference between the Test Document and the Test Result output?
The biggest difference is usage. The Test Document is used for User Acceptance Testing, the Test Result document is used during the testing process, having the recorder on, if you encounter an error, at that point you’d stop the recording and publish the Test Results. This is valuable because you have the process document of what you tested, the screenshot, version control, who it was done by, time, date stamp etc. So you can use this information to send to the team who is fixing and recreating issues. Many people do this manually – screenshot, copy-past into an email, etc. but it’s difficult to remember the 25 steps they might have taken to get there. So this is much more efficient.
Can you revisit the various forms of embedded help?
When you embed a help link within the application, this would be the URL tied to the content server. That link will pull up the player package. Our recommendation is to hide the Try it! See it! Know it! and Test it! modes and have Do it! and Print it! modes available.
What is the difference between publishing for the LMS and the Player?
When you publish for the Player you need to look at the options on the right, you’ll need to know what type of SCORM version you’re publishing out of, click it and take that to the LMS team to be uploaded there. There’s no difference as it relates to the Player, it’s about the options you select when you publish the Player.
When we create Job Aids, System Process Documents, etc., we are expecting a new folder to be created automatically beneath the presentation. Is that supposed to happen?
Yes, this is done through the publishing process on the UPK developer, where you will be able to select the destination folder and select the outputs you would like to publish (in this case, Job Aids and System Process Documents). After the publishing process you can go find the destination folder with the every output you published grouped in separate folders.
Does the recording support the ability to generate a report based on different regions? We have testers on the east coast and west coast and each team would like to see its progress.
UPK Professional gives you the ability to set up custom reports, so you can do this with UPK if you have different groups and other features set up. This may require some custom coding.
Does the tool require a plan, for example, a percent path per day? Can it compare the plan to the actual progress to evaluate testing progress?
Through the Knowledge Center you can definitely support the plan, view where you are and the milestones in your project timeline. If you have a certain criteria for percentages, you can create it on your own, and you could compare and report the percentages through the Knowledge Center.
The new Test It! Mode functionality inside the Oracle UPK player package allows testers to perform User acceptance testing processes deploying a window where testers can see every step and screenshots indicated in the test scripts and compare it to the real process. They’re able to qualify every step as “passed”, “failed” or skip it, as well as add notes and bug notifications.
At the end of the process the Test It! Mode window will deploy the final results with a summary of actual time taken vs estimated time, results of each step and % of success. Tester can also open the option of detailed report to examine deeper details of the test results; all the test reports will be stored in the knowledge center providing the ability to track back all the history and details of testing process.
How does Oracle UPK compare to People Testing Framework?
UPK is a single source content development platform that produces multiple outputs from one single authoring session, which contributes significantly to the test scripts and test cases creation process by automatically driven every step within a User Acceptance Testing (UAT). These test cases can also be integrated to several automated testing suites, OATS included.
At the same time Oracle UPK provides the TestIt! Mode in the player output where testers can feed the testing scripts indicating whether each step failed or passed, add notes and bugs, at the end of this process testers can access the knowledge center and track back all the reports for testing results details on each topic.
PeopleSoft Test Framework on the other hand is an automated testing tool for functional testing procedures.
What is the difference between publishing for LMS and the player?
UPK can publish LMS package in SCORM & IACC formats that can easily integrate with any LMS platform, on the other hand, the player package is a web-based player platform that deploys all the IT Modes selected by the developer in the content publishing process.
What exactly does the screen that displayed the link for all the Try-its, Show its, etc. do? Is that a feature available to be provided to end-users? I normally publish the course in SCORM 1.2 & I see those links on the top of the page. Is there a drift way?
The It! Modes are published through the player package which contains all the playback modes that the developer selected during the publishing process, there are in total six It! Modes: See It!, Try It!, Know It!, Do It!, Test it! And Print It!
This player package can be opened by the end-users through any web browser as well as inside any LMS.
Is this testing in the UPK Knowledge Center only available in UPK v12?
The Test It! Mode is available in previous Oracle UPK versions as well; the key enhancement of the upgrade relies on the ability to track back all the test reports inside the knowledge center.
