What is a typical timeline for a PeopleSoft upgrade project? What factors affect the timeline the most?
We often see a PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade coming in around 6 to 8 months, the factor that impacts timelines the most is the number of customizations – which is why we suggest starting early so as to understand the internal capacity that your organization can take on.
I assume that we can purchase PeopleSoft 9.2 contents to use with UPK?
Yes, that is correct and you can purchase PeopleSoft 9.2 specific contents that follow a modular breakdown.
For a PeopleSoft upgrade project, how many UPK Developer licenses do you think are needed? We have a team of about 30 across 4 functional areas.
A lot of it has to do with the bandwidth of your organization, with how many people are going to be allocated to development. Sometimes organizations are overzealous on the amount of time someone has, especially if they have multiple job roles. So we cannot provide a definite answer, but we can put you in touch with organizations that have a similar size and have done it already. Sometimes organizations use 80% of the functionality of different modules, but not all of it, so a lot depends on the number of customizations, the internal allocation and the bandwidth to support it. What are the hardware and software specifications required for the virtual machine that you mentioned?
There’s a lot of information on that, but it is not nearly as difficult to install as one would think. We typically see clients get it set up in just a few hours on existing hardware that they have.
You said that PeopleSoft recently released an upgrade script for 8.9 to 9.2. Is that for FCM or HCM?
That is specifically for Financials. It’s very exciting; we have clients who have changed their approach and are now doing single path 8.9 to 9.2 instead of having to consider that very difficult double upgrade.
If we engage Elire as our implementation partner for a PeopleSoft upgrade project, would we also need to purchase Elire Proprietary Tools in addition to consulting service?
No, those tools are available at no additional charge. They are part of what we offer as part of our baseline services.
Will Elire be at the Alliance Conference in a few weeks in Las Vegas?
Yes, we’ll be exhibiting at Alliance (Booth 140), where we’ll have members of our sales team and some of our consultants. We will also be presenting at Collaborate (Booth 1417) with IT Convergence (Booth 1049), and will also be exhibiting at Reconnect, a specific PeopleSoft conference by Quest in July.
Are all the test scripts built by using test framework?
Not these particular test scripts. We do work with the testing framework, but since we know not all clients have that, we always have an independent library of test scripts which are often well-formatted to upload (in the case of these particular ones) into the very popular Quality Center tool. So we always strive to make sure that the content is there and we work as necessary – if you want them independently, if your organization has a Quality Center and you want to use it, all that can be discussed.
